Stylebind Editor-in-Chief, Jenny Mittelstaedt, went through countless renovations, design interventions, out-side the box home projects and craft adventures. One day, she decided to pen her journey as she beautifies the world, one room at a time. Here’s a note from her on how her passion came about, and the journey she’s been on.
Hello! Welcome to my site, I hope you love it and find it useful for your very own DIY projects at home! My interest in interior design began when I was about 14 or so, when my parents said I could do whatever I wanted to my bedroom. I decided painting with one color wouldn’t be enough, so I created my own accent wall of about 30 squares of varying shades of pink, with accents of white and yellow! It was wild and fun and I loved it! The funny thing was is even though I always could see potential in my firends houses and my own for updates, I never really put much more thought into it than that.
It wasn’t until after college and moving 2000 miles away from home, that I really began to feel like I found my place. As friends would come over to my apartment they’d comment on my own decor. While it was never anything fancy, it was however fun and bright.
As time started to pass and I was feeling more confident in my own work, so I asked friends to allow me to design spaces for them in their apartments and homes. From there word of mouth started to travel of my makeovers, and business picked up! I currently am trying to start my own business and consultation firm for Interior Design. Someday that dream will be a reality!
