Weekend Framing Projects

So it’s Friday, finally! If you’re like me, the weekend couldn’t come fast enough :) The weather is nice and the sun is shining, what more could you want? Last night I was thinking about all the fun things I need to add to the site like pictures, how-to videos, links to cool sites showcasing new products and more! It is all coming promise!
I was looking around at my own apartment last night thinking of how I still need more (The downfall to loving design,is that sometimes it never really feels “done”) Much to my boyfriends dismay, lol!
I love to paint and showcase some of the artwork I have done in my own space….which got me to thinking of some past shortcuts I have learned that I want to pass on. I know some of you are thinking “The last thing I can do is paint a stick figure, let alone a masterpiece of art to hang on my wall”…here’s the cool thing, you don’t have to! No seriously….
Here are some fun ways to add art to your wall you probably never thought of…
- Frame a Find. So your at a Fabric store, or maybe even Target…and you find a really cool fun print or pattern, but it’s not necessarily something you’d put on your pillowcase, or a throw on your couch. So, why not cut it to size and put it in a matted frame? It’s simple, fast, and looks really sharp!
- Fabric on Canvas. So you’d like to paint, but are hesitant of the outcome, but love the look of canvas art…here’s a fun trick. Take a fabric/design you love and wrap the canvas. Secure it to the back using a staple gun. This inexpensive trick will give you instant art that’s fun and unique!
- Framing Flowers. If you have a garden, or your neighbor does, take photos of the flowers and frame the copy! If they are your own flowers trim a few and make color copies at Kinko’s! You’d be surprised how fabulous the prints turn out! Another fun thing, which I have done, is after buying fresh fruit, for example Kiwi, cut it in half and snap a picture! The green is so vibrant and bright, it adds a pop of color in an interesting way. Plus it’s all your own :) You can play around with the focus of the camera and scale to make the picture more or less abstract.
- Wall as Art. There is a great product that was introduced to me called blik. It’s wall decals that are removable! Great for apartments and people who don’t want to paint! You can use these patterns on one wall in a room to create a focal wall and really make a statement! Check them out here you will love it! http://www.whatisblik.com/
Hope you all have a chance to do some of the fun things above, and if you do, send me the pictures and I’ll showcase them on the site! If you have any questions, comment and I’ll help!
